Major bug: when I changed the date of an event, all comments were lost!

I changed the date of a calendar event -- postponing it by one week.  All the comments and all RSVPs seem to be gone forever!


Well ... not forever.  I found that if I changed the date back to the original, then the data reappeared.


I guess the logic is -- if you change the date, then it's a different event, huh?

This seems to be a pretty important thing to "fix".


 

Hi, Chris - Actually, it's not a bug, but we agree it's something we want to improve. If an event date changes we want comments to move along with it (Ticket #2221), as well as provide managers ability to retain its RSVPs if they want to (the discussion Chris referenced).

REEEEALLY looking forward to having this "fixed," too. :)

I just updated the dates on a calendar event and didn't lose any of the comments OR any of the RSVPs.

Hi, Chris -- it's in process. Event RSVPs and comments for individual events do, now, automatically move when you change the date of an event. We have a few more related tweaks (RSVP order, etc.) you should see tomorrow.


For "recurring" events, the RSVPs and comments do not automatically move. We will look into how to make that happen in a way that makes sense under a new ticket, #2270.

This is a big help for us.  Thanks!   BTW, these are the types of "improvements" that need to be promoted to the Champions.  How would we know this was in place?  I just "happened" to notice it.  Can we get some update/enhancement blog or similar that documents the changes in production?

Chris - this ticket is still open because we still have a few tweaks even for the "individual" events - the work on Ticket #2221 is in progress.


The good news is that when a ticket is closed, we do always post in the forum when it's been resolved. We also reply through Support mail if the user reported the issue there (we feel it's important to directly update the folks who report the issues).


That said, we do hear you and appreciate the feedback! We also want to do a better job letting folks know about changes (even small ones) and are looking into ways we can provide more general updates that will reach Champions or perhaps even all of our managers.  Please keep the feedback coming.

Hi, everyone. Ticket #2221 is now closed. Event RSVPs and comments for individual events do, now, automatically move when you change the date of an event. In these cases, you may want to send a new invitation to the event announcing the change and asking folks to update their response.


RSVPs and comments do not automatically move for "recurring" events if you change their date.  We will be looking into that possibility under a new ticket, #2270.
