Uploading Documents to Files & Media

One of my committee members tried to upload a MS Word document to the Files & Media section and was unable to. I have replicated the problem in both Firefox and IE.
The site spins for a while upon hitting the upload button and then I receive this browser window-in-a-window effect (where the banner, etc. appears in the central column of the site) where the names of files usually appears.
Let me know if you need more information.
