Adding a Job Board to a Groupsite

I am looking to create a Groupsite in which members can post, view and search for jobs. (Ideally, jobs could also be categorized by type -- entry-level or internship -- and industry.) Is there a way to create a widget or form to accomplish these goals?

Thank you in advance for your help!

Tim,

If I understand correctly, you have have inserted a table into the Welcome Text section of the Summary Page with html code containing the links. colors, etc.

And, by doing so, this assures that the table will always be positioned at the top of the Summary Page below the welcome text.

Is that correct?

Thanks for sharing this!

Assuming this is correct, what I would do (as a non-coder) is create the code for the table using either FrontPage, Expression Web, Dream Weaver or even a free ap like Kompozer or SoThink HTML editor and paste the code into CollectiveX Free Form Text Module using the HTML source window.

Tom,

I used Expressions Web as well to create my table. I posted the html code into a Freeform tex module -html source window. As for making sure that it appears at the top of your Summary Page, you can easily drag the module to any position.

Tim,

Again, thank you so very much.  Using your code I was able to create a table for my home page and enter the links to discussion forums, just as you instructed.

Although mine is not as artistic as your's, it will suffice until I learn more.

The willingness of the entire CollectiveX family to help each other and share best practices is "priceless." I thank you all for that.

Look forward to being of assistance to you!  Pat Means

Guys,

Engagement like we're seeing in this topic is music to our collective ears (pun intended).

Thanks, Tim, for being so involved.

Great stuff! Very helpful. NOW another question. How did you do your Platinum Sponsors rotating ads? Very professional...

For our fellow champions looking to add a job posting application to their site, you can find the perfect solution at SimplyHired. They offer a white label solution so that you can brand the site with your group logo and best of all it's Free! You can also charge to post job listings if you want and earn a nice revenue stream.

They also have widgets that can be embeded in your summary page. You can also just add the link to the "More" tab and call it Job Listings and link the url so it opens within the frame.

Sharing our collective knowledge is what CollectiveX is all about.

Go CollectiveX Champions!

Thanks Anthony!!! Pat Means

One warning which may or may not be obvious.

If your groupsite is private or limited, job seekers can not access the Posts themselves unless they are members.  In that case, Anthony's option would make more sense than creating a collectivex internal system. I experimented with simply hired and found it to be just as user friendly as CX.

Good point Tom. Another way around that would be to embed the Simply Hired widget either on your existing website or embed the widget in a new module in the right hand pane of your CollectiveX site. That would give any guest to your site access to the job listing site.

As more champions develop job boards on their Groupsite, more topics (jobs) will flood individual discussion forums. It would be great if a feature was added that would allow you to delete multiple topics at once... as to conveniently purge old job listings.
