Is there a way to import a calendar?  Or do you have to type each event in?  Can you have a calendar that has an rss feed, feed the info right into the calendar?  BAsically are their any shortcuts to the calendar?

Thank you for your help.

James - That would be a great feature, but unfortunately not one we have today.  Our calendar can be exported to Outlook our iCal (since we are all Mac users Smile) but we have not coded an import function yet.

Shaun

Thank you.  I appreciate the help Shaun

I am having trouble understanding how to make sure that Calendar events can be inputted so that the correct time appears to be people looking at the site from a different time zone. As a national organisation we are wanting to run multiple groupsites for teams in different zones but as a manager I am going to need to input the events etc in an incorrect time to make it appear in the correct time for their time zones?

I would really like some advice on this.

Robert,

The group calendar auto-adjusts to display event times to each user based on the time zone that is selected within each member's profile. For instance, if you enter an event to start at 1:00 PM Eastern Time, it will appear to Suzie in California to start at 10:00 AM Pacific Time.

A member can check or change their time zone setting by going to the "Personal Data" link under MY SETTINGS > My Profile.

Note: if a member changes the time setting on their computer (and not in their profile), it will not affect the event times displayed on the Groupsite calendar.

Hope this helps!

That is a great help. Given this particular Groupsite has a geographic bias I will just set my personal data for their time zone. However will this effect my personal profile in all my other Groupsites as well where there may be no Geographic bias? Perhaps the Calendar needs a feature whereby when you choose an event time you can also specfiy the time zone applicable to where the event will be held/hosted/initiated?

Yes, when you change the time zone setting in your personal profile it will affect the time zone setting in your personal profile for all of your groups.

Regarding the potential for a calendar feature that displays the time zone where an event is held, this is something we'd like to investigate. You may want to visit a similar discussion thread and recent post here.

Hello all,

We cross many time zones, and I love the feature that everyone sees their own time zone.  My trouble is our users' knowledge of this.  They see the times, then always ask me "What time zone?!"

I would recommend that CX make a note on the calendars at te top or something that tells the user that all times are local, according to their profile's location setting.

Stephen,

Thanks for the feedback and we agree. We've opened Ticket #1299 to make enhancements to the interface to include what time zone is being displayed to the viewer from the Calendar "Month" view, "Event" view, etc.

Regarding calendar issues, if you edit an event on the calendar, how do you keep the RSVP responses in tact? When I've needed to edit an event, all my RSVPs disappear and have to send an email to the group asking them to re-RSVP.  That's inefficient and looks unprofessional.  Thanks!  Kelly

Kelly - Sorry for the hassle (which I agree is inefficient).  The way the system is currently designed, RSVP's are lost when you edit either the date or time of an event.

The original design thought was: if someone says Yes to an 0800 meeting, and you later move it to 0900, they may no longer be able to make it - so the list of RSVP's is not valid until all re-confirm the new time.

If it is any consolation, at the bottom of the event page, managers have the ability to "export RSVP list". This at least can save the list of folks for you before you make the edit.

When we have time, we will look at a less cumbersome way to handle this.

Thanks,

Shaun

HOW does a manager EDIT an existing calendar event's font size... (I did not see anywhere where this was answered). Thank you. Paul

Hi Paul,

Font sizes in a calendar can only be changed in the "optional"
description area where the WYSIWYG Editor is available. The font for the
calendar event name, time, etc., cannot currently be changed.

If you need additional assistance, please write to support@groupsite.com .

Hi Again Celeste,

I need to understand more so I can be independent.

You wrote "Font sizes in a calendar can only be changed in the "optional"

1. WHERE is the WYSIWYG editor for anything on the calendar?

2. Which fonts are you referring to when you wrote "Font sizes IN a calendar?"

You wrote: "The font for the
calendar event name, time, etc., cannot currently be changed."

1. What's is and where is what you call: "Calendar Event Name?" I'm wanting to see the difference between from a font "in a calendar" and a font that can be edited  (if the editor is available).

Thank you, Paul
