Embedding Adsense Code

Forgive me if this is the wrong place to ask this question...was having trouble finding the right place...
I'm having trouble embedding adsense code into my Summary page. I click "edit", and then try to use the HTML editor. I paste in the adsense code, save it, but then it does not show up on my Summary page. What am I forgetting or doing wrong? Thanks in advance!

You can now edit your footer ads directly, by either clicking the Edit Footer Advertisement button underneath the footer ad space, or by clicking Control Advertisements link the Group Settings area.
Soon, we will be adding the ability to maintain multiple ads, control ad rotation, manage multiple ad accounts, and more.
