Links/URL to specific messages?

A standard feature in many message boards is having a unique URL/link to a specific message, which is pretty necessary when you have a multi-page topic. I thought I'd be patient to see this feature appear, but it hasn't yet. It's a great way to get people to use the board, or to join, by sending them to a specific message.  It's like not being able to forward a single email, but being forced to only send 10-20 emails at once with the person having to guess which one you want them to read.
