Is there a way to customize which elements of a group can be seen by the public? For example, many users may want to explore the user forum before deciding to actually sign up. Is there a current or upcoming feature that will make this possible?

Great idea! Right now you're either invisible or pretty vulnerable to eavesdroppers. If I could customize the public page I wouldn't need a separate website.
