Blue border for Images with links

I observed this today. When I send an email blast with images linking to another page, there is a blue border that is appearing very ugly. Here is a sample:
If this is not a bug, How can we avoid this?
FYI ... this is appearing only in the email and not in the discussion.

Hi, Sanjay. What email client are you using when you see the blue border? I just read a test email in both Thunderbird and Yahoo! and didn't see a box around my hyperlinked images.
This is happening in Gmail.
