We're happy to announce the upcoming launch of Groupsite Chat, a new instant messaging feature, to our platform. Chat allows real-time communication in Chat rooms right inside your Groupsite. Within the next few weeks, Groupsite Chat will be a standard feature in our Large Team,
Collaboration Community, and Enterprise plans. This means that when a Groupsite subscribes to one of these plans in the future, the site will automatically include Chat capability.
Chat Roll-Out
Starting on October 2nd, we'll begin rolling out the new Chat capability to Groupsites already subscribed to qualifying plans. To ensure a good experience for all
users, we'll be deploying Chat to eligible groups incrementally. Complete roll-out may take through the end of the year.
What Can You Expect?
We'll post a system message in Groupsites to make Groupsite Managers aware of the new functionality. This message will not be visible to general users. Also, you can expect complete access to your Groupsite without disruption, as our technical team is implementing Chat in a very measured roll-out across the platform. Details are below.
Groupsite.com will roll-out the new Chat feature to our Platforms starting with 20 eligible groups each day. This approach means we'll be able to carefully monitor how the new feature impacts system resources. We can realize any additional numbers of dedicated servers required to support real-time functionality and can quickly make system adjustments if needed. We'll also be able to increase the
daily number of eligible groups for which we enable the feature as we see the impact to system resources.
Accessing Chat
Once Chat is rolled out to your Groupsite, the feature is accessible to your group. All members will be able to see and access Chat rooms from the COMMUNICATE tab. For more details, please see our Groupsite Chat FAQs.
Disabling Chat
What happens if you
get Chat but decide it's not a good fit? No worries. Chat can be
disabled in your Groupsites at anytime. You'll find details on this in our Groupsite Chat FAQs.
